The wires are different gauges for a reason due to amperage requirements. Although you would LIKELY be ok doing that I would advise against it. You could get a used fusebox asy and cut that section back, and solder to your existing harness. I would advise against any relocation of fuseboxes, especially exposed rain.. moisture etc. But to each his own. More importantly.... you need to find out why or what caused the fuse holder to melt in the first place... a short somewhere? Bad wiring somewhere? Improper fuse or overloaded circuit? The last thing you want is to get this all done and THE SAME THING happens again !
